Expeditions in the Pantanal
About
To tell this story, I need to go back in time a little…
When I was just a tiny tot, I already insisted on accompanying my grandparents and parents in the farm work. Not that a child was much help — I bothered more than anything — but they were forced to include me in the activities, otherwise I would immediately start a protest.
Back then, I wasn’t used to hear the word “Pantanal.” People usually said the name of the farm itself: “I’m heading over to Santa Lurdes,” “They caught a fat peccary at Auxiliadora”, “It’s all underwater at Baía das Pingas”… and so on.
My grandfather, a man who dind’t finish elementary school, was terrified that I’d grow and want to follow in his footsteps. “Grandpa had no choice,” he’d say, “but you do.”
And indeed, as I grew up, I saw all the possibilities and chose to move to São Paulo, where I earned my degree in Business Administration.
At this point, you might be asking: “So how did you end up in tourism?”
Yeah… I ask myself the same thing! Working in this field was never planned. But life is full of plot twists — so here I am!
Long story short, the initial idea of Paziguá came after I walked in the shoes of some friends who had a trip planned to the Pantanal. “If I weren’t from here, how would I like to discover the region?”
The fact that you’re reading this is a sign that I found a good answer, haha.
And you know the best part? My grandfather was right! If I had chosen working on the farm, I probably would’ve been happy — but my reach would’ve been limited.
But, through tourism, I get to share the wonders of this land with thousands of people. And of course, doing it my way: with truth, purpose, and a touch of the stubbornness that’s left from that mini protester.
I’m waiting for you in the Pantanal!
Take care and see you soon
